Welcome To

Pasadena

A picture perfect city with something to offer to residents of all ages

Pasadena is a tidy, picturesque city of roughly 140,000 people that sits about eleven miles northeast of Downtown Los Angeles. Its name means "Crown of the Valley" in the local Ojibwa tribe's tongue and to this day it's a highly desirable place to live.

Downtown Pasadena, also called Old Town Pasadena, is the city's cultural and commercial hub. Shopping, restaurants, bars, bookstores, and theaters are mostly based in this area.

The Californa Institute of Technology, one of the best universities in the country for those pursuing math or science, is located in Pasadena.

Another famous landmark is the Rose Bowl. This stadium was built in 1922 and has since been expanded to hold over 100,000 people. The UCLA football team plays here and the stadium also hosts other important sporting events. On the second Sunday of every month the famous Rose Bowl Flea Market sets up shop here.

This vibrant lifestyle doesn't come cheap, however, and much of the housing in Pasadena is expensive. You'll find well-maintained Spanish-style, Craftsman, and Victorian homes with manicured lawns. Many are historic: one 16-block section known as Bungalow Heaven has been designated a landmark district for its Arts and Crafts style homes that date to the early 1900s. There are plenty of condos and apartments for those looking for less space or more affordable living.

Despite the image you may be getting of Pasadena, this is not some perfect, Stepford-esque place to live. Like any city, there are more neglected parts that experience higher crime and lack the amenities of the more affluent areas.

Pasadena is bordered on the north by Altadena and the Angeles National Forest, on the east by Arcadia, on the south by San Gabriel, San Marino, and South Pasadena, and on the west by Glendale and La Cañada Flintridge.
